Meet the Person Behind CareerAdemicals
CareerAdemicals is powered by me — Mel Moorhouse — an experienced careers adviser, university counsellor, and education consultant. Over the last 16 years, I’ve supported thousands of students and families as they’ve navigated the exciting (and sometimes overwhelming) journey of planning their futures, applying to university, and finding a path that truly fits who they are. I have also supported recent graduates and career changers to find their path and mentored peers in the industry to develop their own practice.
A Personal Approach That Makes a Difference
My approach is all about individual journeys — no templates, no generic advice. I take time to get to know each individual, understand their goals and context, and provide tailored, practical support with honesty, insight, and empathy. I also work closely with parents and schools, where appropriate, to ensure that everyone feels informed and supported throughout the process.

My practice is rooted in deep sector knowledge and genuine passion. Whether it’s choosing A-levels or IB subjects, mapping out career interests, writing a standout personal statement, or applying to universities in the UK or abroad, I’m here to help every step of the way.

Outside of counselling, I’m a parish councillor passionate about community engagement, a mentor to peers within the university and careers counselling community, and a lifelong learner (I’m currently working on my 3rd language on Duolingo!).
